About United Way of Audrain County
In the 1950’s a group of community minded citizens formed a Community Chest to support local not-for-profit organizations. In 1957, this group raised $37,000 to distribute to six agencies.
In 1987, the Community Chest board applied and was accepted into the United Way of America system. The Mexico Area United Way (aka United Way of Audrain County) continues to make a difference in Audrain County by holding an annual campaign with funds being distributed to not-for-profit agencies serving citizens of Audrain County.
Today, the United Way of Audrain County is a local and regional partnership of volunteers, contributors, staff, agencies and social services, which raises and distributes funds and strives to strengthen community capacity and individual ability to care for one another.
A volunteer Board of Directors composed of 12 individuals representing a cross section of the community. The board takes seriously its responsibilities as a custodian of community funds. The board sets and monitors policies, establishes and reviews the budget and ensures United Way’s accountability for stewardship to all contributors.
The mission of the United Way of Audrain County is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities. Through partnerships, long-term planning, and wise investments of donor contributions, United Way of Audrain County will supporting 15 community programs and services in Audrain County. United Way is a volunteer-driven organization that involves many community leaders, professionals, and other volunteers in every aspect of our business, including fundraising, marketing, and funding decisions, to ensure that your donations are truly making a difference.

Anna McDonald Rentschler, CAMS, CRCM
Anna worked 36 years at Central Bancompany, Inc., last running the Bank Secrecy/Anti-Money Laundering Unit for 12 years governing the 13 banks and the trust company within the holding company. Prior to coming to the holding company level, she was the BSA and Compliance Officer at various banks within Central Bancompany. Anna was the former recipient of the Distinguished Service Award as recognized by the American Bankers Association (ABA) and received the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017 by the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists (ACAMS). Anna recently retired and is presently working as the Executive Director of the United Way of Audrain County. She has maintained her love of the United Way since she was a Loaned Executive in 1986 in Boone County for the United Way.
Our Relationship With United Way Worldwide
All United Ways are independent and are governed by people in their local communities. United Way Worldwide is the national service and training center of United Way across the country. They provide services like training, research, assistance with national companies, national advertising, and working with other United Ways to solve various problems in our communities.
